Big Society Trailblazers
At the heart of the Government's plan for a 'Big Society' is a vision of devolving power to a local level and putting it back into the hands of communities.
Cambridgeshire ACRE is offering its professional support services to help communities explore, develop and implement new projects that fit with the Big Society agenda. These communities will blaze the trail – or lead the way - for others to follow. Our year-long support will help give new ideas momentum and provide a catalyst for carrying forward long-held community aspirations.
Cambridgeshire ACRE will help the chosen communities assess local opportunities and assets. Support will be given with engaging and enabling new volunteers, developing business and management plans, budgets and fundraising.
We want to gather real-life insights into how Big Society policies work on the ground. We will therefore use The Trailblazer Communities as an example to others by sharing their experiences as their projects evolve with other communities and organisations. Equally importantly, we will take every opportunity to influence the Government with these real life case studies.
You can download a case study about our work in the community of Great Staughton from the Resources and Downloads box on the right of this page.
