Facilitating Community Empowerment

Cambridgeshire Local Involvement Network (LINk)

The Cambridgeshire Local Involvement Network (LINk) is a body created by Cambridgeshire County Council under the Local Government & Public Involvement in Health Act 2007 through Statutory Instrument 2008 No 528, supported by other Statutory Instruments and Secretary of State for Health Directions made in accordance with that Act.

The LINk will help communities within Cambridgeshire have a stronger voice with regard to health and social care services (local care services). In particular, the LINk will:

  • ask local people what they think about local care services and provide a chance to suggest ideas to help improve services
  • investigate specific issues of concern to the communities
  • use its powers to hold services to account and get results
  • ask for information and get an answer within a specified amount of time
  • carry out spot checks to see if services are working well
  • make reports and recommendations and receive a response
  • refer to higher authorities issues where service providers seem reluctant to accept findings and take action.

Cambridgeshire ACRE, with the support of delivery partner Age Concern Cambridgeshire, was appointed as Host for the period 1st April 2008 to 31st March 2011. The Host's role is to support the LINk in accordance with the provisions of the Act and national guidance.

The Cambridgeshire LINk has its own dedicated website which can be found at www.cambridgeshirelink.org.uk.
