Children’s Play
We all have good memories from our childhood of spending our free time playing with friends and family - creating things out of nothing, running, jumping, hiding, getting muddy, generally having fun and learning so much without really realising it!
The benefits of innovative and challenging play facilities and activities for children and young people are well documented and include reducing the likelihood of ill health and obesity, improving children's physical and mental health and reducing anti-social behaviour.
Better Equipment - Better Play
This project is working with children, young people, their families and the wider, local community in parts of Fenland where play spaces either do not exist or where they
have been identified as deficient.
Better Equipment - Better Play is one of two projects within Fenland District Council's Fenland Play portfolio. This is bringing new resources to Fenland to work with children, young people, their families and the wider community to:
- design and develop better play facilities
- purchase and install new play equipment
- develop the use of informal play spaces
- increase awareness and use of new play resources and natural play settings
- celebrate play space development.
We are also working closely with the team from Ormiston Trust who are delivering the second project in the Fenland Play portfolio - Fenland Play Ranger - to increase children's access to a wider and more varied range of quality play opportunities.
