The Cambridgeshire Community Hubs Network, which operates across East Cambridgeshire, Fenland and South Cambridgeshire, provides safe, warm and welcoming spaces for people to come together to support each other.
The Hubs are currently funded by different funders depending on District:
- In East Cambridgeshire through Awards for All, Cambridgeshire County Council and East Cambridgeshire District Council;
- In Fenland through DCMS’s ‘Know Your Neighbourhood’ fund; and
- In South Cambridgeshire through South Cambridgeshire District Council using funding from NHS Cambridgeshire & Peterborough, part of our local Integrated Care System.
Facilitated by Cambridgeshire ACRE, the network of volunteer-led community hubs are a place for local community members to gather to make and meet with friends, to enjoy free refreshments and to take part in fun activities. In addition, Cambridgeshire ACRE’s team of Village Agents regularly visit community hubs (in Fenland and South Cambridgeshire) and are able to support any adult who is struggling personally, emotionally, medically or financially and who needs help to find solutions.
Finding funding to support the Hubs in the longer term has been a major priority for Cambridgeshire ACRE and we are delighted to have now entered into a partnership agreement with Cadent’s Centre for Warmth programme that will allow us to support the Cambridgeshire Community Hubs Network until at least March 2026.
Under the new funding arrangements, Hubs will continue to receive grant funding to support their operations and Village Agents will continue to support people with their health and wellbeing with an increased focus on safeguarding services, such as income maximisation, energy efficiency and carbon monoxide safety advice.
The new funding from Cadent will phase in as other funding ends meaning that Hubs will continue to receive seamless support from Cambridgeshire ACRE allowing them to maintain their Hubs as the vital community assets they now are.
