The Household Support Fund aims to help those struggling to pay for food, energy or other essential items this winter. Cambridgeshire County Council has been allocated £3.58 million and Peterborough City Council has been allocated £1.82m as part of the Government’s Household Support Fund to help people who need financial support.
The City Council and County Council are operating a Direct Voucher Scheme for eligible families over the October half-term, Christmas school holiday, and February half-term periods.
The wider scheme will provide two primary routes for households to get the support they need: a direct application process, and support facilitated via a trusted partner network.
Practical support that can be provided through the fund includes:
- A supermarket voucher to support with food for both families and individuals.
- Energy, Fuel and Water, either by paying bills on demand, via direct debit, or a pre-payment meter.
- Other essential supplies
