At Cambridgeshire ACRE, we recognise the value of bringing different audiences together around specific topics to share learning and experiences. After all, there’s nothing like being in a room of like-minded people, expanding your knowledge on a subject, debating different ideas and exploring what works and what doesn’t.
We’re launching a new series of get-togethers for all our members, partners and those interested in a better future for rural communities in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. These will be run on particular topics affecting rural communities with time set aside for questions and discussion on how we can all support each other better.
This year’s topics are already planned and we kick off with a session on the provision of rural affordable housing on 4 July, during what is also Rural Housing Week 2023 (3 – 7 July). The planned programme looks like this so far:
- Tuesday 4 July – Providing rural affordable homes to build a better future for rural communities
- Date tbc Sep – As winter approaches, how can we support the health and wellbeing of those struggling in our rural communities?
- Date tbc Sep – Community-led housing: approaches to developing homes that local people want and need
- Date tbc Oct – Being part of a landscape-scale approach by greening your community space for nature and biodiversity
- Date tbc Oct – Shaping the future of your local area by creating a Neighbourhood Plan
- Date tbc Nov – Local fundraising: what are the opportunities for raising funds for community projects?
We’re calling this events programme ‘Staying Connected’, as that’s what we’re aiming to do – to allow our networks to connect with each other on topics of common interest.
Each session will be advertised on our website Events page, via social media, through our members’ network and invitation emails will also be sent directly to those on our mailing list. If you’d like to join the mailing list for these sessions now, you can opt in here.
We hope you will find the time to join us for those sessions that interest you and can also share details with others who might wish to join.
