Cambridgeshire ACRE’s Water Care project organised their second litter pick yesterday, taking their volunteers to the streets of Ramsey to give the village a tidy up.
The volunteers spent their time clearing up Bury Brook; a fascinating river flowing through the centre of Huntingdonshire. It runs through Broughton, Wistow, Bury and Ramsey along the way. In just a few hours, they had collected 9 bags total, amounting to 9kg of litter collected. There were some bizarre findings along the way including golf balls, rakes, traffic cones and other fly tipped items.
Rachael Brown, RiverCare group leader and Cambridgeshire ACRE’s Community Development Manager, ran yesterday’s litter pick. RiverCare support community-led volunteer groups to make positive changes to their local river environments.
