On Monday (25 October), Eastern Community Homes, working in partnership with the East of England Local Government Association, delivered an online seminar titled “More than living – How Community-Led Housing at scale could transform the Growth Agenda for communities across the East of England”.
Attended by over 100 people from across the East of England, the event attracted representatives from local authorities, technical specialists, community groups and third sector organisations. Attendees learned about emerging large-scale community-led housing developments in the UK and heard from colleagues in Switzerland regarding a highly successful, large-scale, cooperative and non-profit housing development in the City of Zurich.
An interesting debate on the importance of community-led projects followed the keynote speakers, including discussion on how large-scale schemes can be encouraged and funded, how they can shape the Growth Agenda across the region and how low carbon housing can be factored in.
A full report on the session is available on the Eastern Community Homes website. Eastern Community Homes, which is led and facilitated by Cambridgeshire ACRE, is the regional advice and support hub for community-led housing groups which aims to increase the supply of affordable community-led housing in the region.
