Our rural touring project works with rural communities to bring high quality live performance and film into local community venues, such as village halls, so that residents, young and old alike, have the chance to experience arts and culture that they might not otherwise see.
Village halls are the ideal venue for people to come together to watch a live show or a film. People can attend with their friends and family without having to travel to the nearest town with a theatre or cinema. Rural touring provides an opportunity for village halls to get people through their doors to see what the hall has to offer and many use the opportunity to provide food, drinks and raffles to raise funds for their hall at the same time.
At our Promoters’ Event, representatives from a number of halls and local councils came together to see clips from the shows and films that will be available over the summer/autumn, discussed the best ways of promoting and marketing an event to their community and were able to talk about their experiences so far.
It was inspiring to see so many volunteers committed to bringing arts experiences into their rural communities and we are looking forward to working with them going forward and seeing some of the shows and films they promote.
