Westley Waterless, a small village five miles South West of Newmarket, hosted the first of many ‘Pop-up Pubs’ in their Village Hall last month (February 2022). Recently, Cambridgeshire ACRE have been working with Cambridgeshire County Council’s Think Communities Team to discuss their village hall’s future and the lack of use by residents over the last few years.
Both parties worked with the trustees of the village hall to set up an open morning, which had a great turnout. During several conversations, the two remaining trustees wished to step down. With the support of the Parish Chairman, we were able to encourage several people to rise to the occasion and take on the role of trustee for the Village Hall.
Since then, the new committee held their first successful AGM and have been hosting great events. One of these being a ‘Pop-up Pub’, attracting more than 120 people to the hall. The event was a great opportunity for villagers of all ages to socialise over drinks and food. You can read more about the event by clicking here.
We have recently published a new case study that explains the above in a lot more detail. You can view that by clicking here.
