Tackling environmental challenges
How we can help
Cambridgeshire ACRE can work with your community to help them tackle environmental issues and consider predicted climate changes impacts.
We have a staff team that has expertise and experience across water management, biodiversity, environmental volunteering and decarbonisation.
Our support and projects help enhance the natural environment, improve community green space, help communities plan for decarbonisation and net zero targets, as well as supporting communities with issues of flooding and considering local mitigating actions.
We are a key partner representing a community voice in Natural Cambridgeshire, Water Resources East and the Fens for the Future partnerships. Cambridgeshire ACRE is also proud to lead on a number of landscape-scale natural environment projects that are testing new ways of working and ensuring communities are placed at the centre of decision-making and changes through enabling opportunities for participation, volunteering and citizen science.
Whether its supporting your community to improve their local community green spaces or working with larger, multi-agency partnerships on countywide natural environment projects, our work is all about protecting and enhancing Cambridgeshire’s environmental assets and we welcome you getting in touch.
We can help your community to:
- set up a community conservation group
- develop a nature recovery plan
- manage rivers, ditches, and ponds
- put in place biodiversity management plans for specific community-owned land
- undertake a decarbonisation plan at your community building
- consider climate change resilient practices, including reducing waste, consumption of non-renewable resources and raising flood awareness
